Job Summary
Under general direction and in compliance with standard operating procedures and policies, performs fire suppression, station maintenance, and fire prevention duties. Operates in a team environment, responds to and assists in a variety of emergency and non-emergency situations including structures, automobiles, wild land fires, and medical emergencies. Performs routine commercial inspections and pre-fire planning. Conducts daily emergency equipment inspections and performs maintenance. Performs routine station maintenance duties including sweeping, mopping, cutting grass, and laundry.
Job Requirements

Firefighter II (EMT):

• High school diploma or equivalent plus six months to one year of advanced study or training in firefighting and basic life support.
• One year of verifiable experience.
• International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or Pro Board Firefighter II certification meeting (National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Firefighter II standards.
• Must have or obtain current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certifications within one year of hire.
• Must have or obtain National Registry and South Carolina Emergency Medical Technician certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B, EMT-I, or EMT-P) within one year of hire.
• Must certify in South Carolina Fire Academy (SCFA) National Incident Management System (NIMS) Incident Command System (ICS) or a National Fire Academy (NFA)course meeting NIMS ICS (100, 200 & 700) within one year of hire.

Firefighter III (EMT):
– High school diploma or equivalent plus six months to one year of advanced study or training in firefighting and basic life support.
– Two years of verifiable experience as a Firefighter II.
– International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or Pro Board Firefighter II certification meeting (National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Firefighter II standards.
– Current CPR and AED certifications, National Registry Emergency Medical Technician credentials as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B, EMT-I, or EMT-P).
– SCFA NIMS ICS or a NFA course meeting NIMS ICS (100, 200 & 700).
– SCFA EVDT & SCFA Pump Operations and SCFA Basic Aerial Operations class or equivalent Pro Board or IFSAC certification.
– Certifications from the State of South Carolina and/or equivalent program in one of the following areas:
– Hazardous Materials Technician Certifications: Must have successfully completed and received certification through the South Carolina Fire Academy or equivalent program (e.g. – – SCFA 40hrs OSHA program or equivalent). Must also successfully complete 8 hours of terrorism awareness training.
– Technical Rescue Certification(s): Must have successfully completed and received certification through the South Carolina Fire Academy or equivalent program in Basic Rope – – Rescue (SCFA 24 hrs. program or equivalent) and one of the following:
– Confined Space Entry (SCFA 24 hrs. program or equivalent).
– High Angle Rescue (SCFA 24 hrs. program or equivalent).

Driver’s License Requirements
• Valid South Carolina Class D Driver’s License.
